Students and researchers interested in the research initiatives at Lemme, as well as prospective candidates for the graduate programs at the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC) — the Graduate Program in Design (PósDesign) and the Graduate Program in Engineering and Knowledge Management (PPGEGC) —, will find in this guide all essential information regarding our research group’s operational dynamics, integration criteria, and academic advisement.
How does participation in the research group work?
Participation in Lemme’s activities and meetings is open to anyone interested in learning about our research lines, even prior to formal admission into a graduate program. No prior academic affiliation with UFSC is required for initial involvement.
The member integration and formalization process occurs in three stages:
Initial approach
Prospective members join biweekly meetings as observers/listeners to become familiar with the group’s discussions and workflow dynamics.
Continuous engagement
To experience the routine of the group, participants are requested to attend three consecutive meetings.
Formalization of affiliation
Once the participant confirms their commitment to joining the team and contributing to research initiatives, membership is officialized. The new member is added to the main communication channel (WhatsApp), granted access to the group’s Google Drive, and officially registered in the CNPq Research Groups Directory in Brazil.

Master’s and Ph.D. advisement
Candidates seeking academic advisement under Prof. Dr. Júlio Monteiro Teixeira within the PósDesign or PPGEGC graduate programs should note the following guidelines:
Scientific alignment
The applicant’s research project or intent must demonstrate clear alignment with the research lines and investigative fronts of Lemme.
Selection processes and openings
While Prof. Dr. Júlio remains open to accepting new advisees, there is no prior reservation of openings, including for participants who already attend Lemme meetings.
Criteria for advisement confirmation
The formal confirmation of academic advisement depends exclusively on fulfilling the following requirements:
Selection process performance
Successful admission and competitive scoring in the official graduate program selection processes.
Proposal alignment
High degree of convergence between the candidate’s proposal and the research projects, interests, and expertise of the advisor and Lemme.
Regulatory compliance
Strict adherence to all requirements, documentation, and deadlines set forth in UFSC’s official public calls (editais).
